The ultimate response and test to whether Jesus is who he said he was is his death, burial, resurrection. As Paul says, those predicted and showed that Jesus was exactly who he said he was.
This almost as important as his resurrection, demonstrating that he. Is. The Messiah. When we get to this portion of the scriptures, it's usually during Palm Sunday. And during Palm Sunday. One of the gospels is. Chosen to talk about Jesus's entry into Jerusalem. And the that's great. But one of the downsides to that is that. Everybody's anticipating Easter first, fruits resurrection Sunday and their planning, their meals and their whatever and their trips and so. A lot of times we don't give a lot of thought. To this particular event. In this particular event is exceptionally important for us. To know that Jesus is the Messiah. And so we're going to go through some things to expand and to have our knowledge. Now I'm going to start in a very unusual spot. I'm sure you have been excited about something. That something that catches your interest and it can be biblical or it can be secular. You know, you're just excited about it. And when you try to tell other people, they just, yeah, that, that that's interesting. And they just aren't as excited about it as as you are.

Well, this particular passage in Ezekiel. Gets me kind of excited and whatever, and I've tried to communicate it over the last few years and I kind of get the response to. Yeah, that's kind of interesting. So I'm going to try one more time outside of the. Passion week to see if I can spark your interest in this and maybe it's because very few people read Ezekiel and maybe that or whatever. And so if you have your Bibles and you should instead of starting with the gospel of Mark, we're going to start with Ezekiel chapter 10. And Ezekiel chapter 10, verses 18 through 22 says this. Then the glory of the Lord departed from the threshold of the temple and stood over the cherubim. And when the cherubim departed, they lifted their wings and rose from the earth, and my sight with the wheels. Beside them and they stood still at the entrance of the east gate of the Lord's House. That's the temple and the glory of God of Israel hovered over them. These are the living beings that I saw beneath the God of Israel by the river Torbar, so I knew that they were cherubim. Each one had four faces and each one had four wings and beneath their wings was the form of human hands. As for. The likeness of their faces.

They were the. They. Same faces of those appearance I had seen by the river Chebar each one went straight ahead. So if you've seen other scriptures, we know that the cherubim are those who who are in essence kind of like the guards of the. Holy Place and these are there and he says these cherubim are unique angels and they stand in the presence of God and they have the four faces and they're always going the correct direction because they don't have to turn because they're always facing whatever. And so you say, OK, well, what does that have to do?

Anything what we're seeing is the presence of God is leaving the temple. And it's leaving the temple by way of the east gate. Then, in Ezekiel Chapter 11, it's in verse 22. It says this. Then the chairman lifted up their wings with the wheels beside them, and the glory of God of Israel hovered over them. The glory of the Lord went up from the midst of the city and stood over the mountain, which is east of the city. The mountain east of the city is the Mount of Olives. To give you some kind of geographical explanation, you have. The temple that sits on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, which is the highest point. Then you go down into a valley, then you go up to the mountain Mount of Olives. And So what we're seeing is that God has had it with his people and he's his. The Chicana glory is leaving the temple by way of the. East Gate going if you will down the mountain and then up the Mount of Olives. You see. Well, that's interesting. Why are you so thrilled with that? Because in a moment when we're going to see. Is that the glory of God? Is going to go from the Mount of Olives. To the temple.
Town.
I find that exciting. Stimulating and the fact that God. Will return his glory to where it belongs. Some people will recognize him as Messiah. Some will give lip service to it. Most will not see. But the glory of God returns from the way it left. The next verse we want to take a look at is in Daniel. Chapter 924 through 26 and this again is another important passage that we sometimes move past. It says 70 weeks have been decreed for your people and your holy city to finish the transgressions to make an end of sin, to make atonement for iniquity, to bring in an everlasting righteousness. Is still of vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most holy place. So you are to know and discern that from the issuing of a decree to restore and rebuild the troops from until the Messiah. The Prince. There will be 70. I mean, there will be 7 weeks and 62 weeks. It will be built again with Plaza and mode. Even in times of distress. Then, after the 62 weeks, the Messiah will be cut off and have nothing, and the people of the Prince who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary, and his sin will come with a flood, even to the end there will be war desolations. Are determined.

Why is this passage important? Because this passage basically says there is a set time from when the decree of Cyrus is issued to rebuild Jerusalem and the temple, there will be a period of time, then there will be another period of time and then at that end of that period of time the Messiah will be revealed. That. Time ended. When Jesus entered Jerusalem. So if Jesus is not the Messiah. The Messiah didn't come. The Scriptures are wrong. There is no Messiah. We have no hope. We are lost in our sins. So you see this entry into Jerusalem. This reverse leaving of the glory tells us that Jesus is the Messiah because he appeared the exact moment the Scriptures stated. He doesn't check off the list, he does what the Scriptures tell us to do. And then the last one before we take a look. At. Mark. We see in. And zachariah. It says this. Great rejoice, O daughters of Zion, shout and Triumph, O Daughters of Jerusalem. Behold, your king is coming. He is just and endowed with salvation, humble and mounted on a donkey, even a cult. The full of a donkey. The scriptures foretell that not only the exact time that the Messiah will appear. It also tells us the exact way he will appear. Now again, Jesus didn't read description and go oh I need to enter Jerusalem on a donkey cult.

The scripture said this is what Jesus is going to do. The Scriptures look forward to what's going to happen and tell us so that when it happens, it's not that Jesus checks off boxes, it's that we might know that is he the Messiah. So for instance in. Revelation. It tells us about an Antichrist. And it tells us that Antichrist will receive a mortal head wound. When that happens, while the world may think he's Messiah, he's the anti Messiah, the Antichrist, and the scriptures tell us that ahead of time so that we know exactly. And so exactly the spirit through the scriptures tell us you'll know when. At this precise time and this precise way when one comes. You will know he's Messiah. Behold your king. You will know who he is. And so now that we've got the background sets to see what happened. As Mark tells us in the scriptures. And in March, after 11. Starting with the first verse, it says this. As they approached Jerusalem at path, age and Bethany near the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples. And they said, and he said to them, go into the village opposite you and immediately you will enter it and you will find a colt tied there on which no one yet has. Sat, untie it and bring it here.

Now. I'll go on one more verse and if anyone asks you to say why are you doing this, you say the Lord has need of it and immediately he will send it. Back here. And so some people in the commentaries will say, well, Jesus probably made advanced plans and all this. I don't think so. I think the Messiah knew that there would be a cult there because God for ordained that there would be a. Donkey cult there. And God foreordained that, he knew that this person probably knew that he was in the Lord's plan, and that when the Lord needed it, he would offer it as his. Offering of sacrifice because he was probably a follower of the Messiah. So it was an advance planning. It was God working in advance. And they went away and found a cult tide at the door outside in the street. And they then tied it. OK, this is very unusual. You put an animal in a barn or some other place. You don't tie it out on the street for anybody to take it. So again. God, knowing exactly what was going to do, told them this is what you'll find. This is what you'll say and it will happen. And some of the bystanders were saying to them, what are you doing? Untying the colt. So it's like, wait a minute. You're stealing it. Why are you? Why are you taking it? And they spoke to them just as Jesus had told them, and they gave them permission. Notice he said the Lord has need of it didn't say Jesus had need of it and it's God needs it. And they gave it to him. Although we had such giving hearts. The Lord needs it. Here you go, Lord. I don't know why you do, but it's yours. And it brought the cold to Jesus. And put their coats on it. And he sat on it. Now again, you will hear people saying, well, typically a conquering hero comes in a white seed and in this beautiful animal and whatever. Jesus will come that way. On another time.

But his destination? At that second time will not be the temple, it will be the mount of Olives where he starts from and it will split in two. So he will come as a conquering hero, but now he's coming just as he ministered. A suffering servant. Not a conquering hero. So he sat on it. And many spread their coats in the road and others spread leafy branches which they had cut from the fields again. The the aspects of the branches they're anticipating, if you will, checote the holy day not there's supposed to be passed over, but the holy day that acknowledges that there is going to be a Kingdom. So I I think there's an, maybe we got our timetable messed up and so they spread these branches out looking. We're looking forward to Jesus being the Messiah, the King of Kings. Because Zachariah said, behold your king. And so they're excited and they're spreading their clothes out. They're in essence giving him the red carpet. Treatment before there was a red carpet and spreading these things out. And those who went in front and those who followed were shouting Hosanna. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Jesus doesn't come in his own name. He comes in the name of God. He comes to do the will of God and that is to offer his life as a ransom for many. Is there to exchange his pain. And suffering for our healing and forgiveness. So he comes. In the name of the Lord, he did not come in his own name. And blessed is the coming of the Kingdom of our fathers, David. Hosanna in the highest. So they're excited, they're and they're acknowledging. Behold your king. Again, it is very important for us to follow the Scriptures and not the excitement of people.

Because many of these same people, if they don't crush, shout out, crucify him, remain silent. Instead of saying, wait a minute. We were the ones who said Hosanna blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. We're acknowledging him. Nope. They either kept silent or cried out crucify him. People's attitudes change. God's attitude never does. So Jesus entered Jerusalem. And came into the temple. See this is 1 again. He came from the Mount of Olives, where the spirit had left. He came down the Mount of Olives up to the temple and entered the temple, where the spirit of God, the shekinah glory of God, left. He went through the east gate to the temple. God does what God says he's going to do. And while the shekinah glory may not be present in the sense of a cloud. God himself, the son of God. Entered the temple. And after looking around at everything. He left. He's going to have an entirely different attitude the second time he enters into the temple, but again, I think the reason is that. People like me get excited because he enters the temple. Because he enters the temple. Not because ultimately, as we'll see next time. Cleanse the. His presence is there to make it holy again. The temple is only a building. Until the presence of God is there. This building. Is only a building. Until we come. To worship. But we are coming to worship. Isn't the holiness. His his, his word says were two or three are gathered in my name. There I will be. This is now a holy place, if just one other person beside me showed up and said I want to be with God. The rest of you can stay out. You know I'm here because this Sunday I'm supposed to. And whatever. If he came here to worship God, to be in his presence, just need one. It's a holy place. Sure, the shaking of glory may not be there, and obviously I'm not as charismatic as Jesus himself.

But I'm not representing Jesus because he's here. Is representing his own self. So while he may not have had to. Transition from the Mount of Olives here, or didn't necessarily drive down to 405 or the 22 to get here. However you got here. And then somebody else got here. Easier. And makes. Our time together. Not a waste of time. Because. We recognize. Behold your king. Is coming. And we acknowledged that he came. And he's coming again. And we're living between those 2 events. But between those two events, we know. He's coming again. Why? Because his word. Over and over and over and over. Has proved to be accurate and true. Even when we say, well, maybe there was some misunderstanding or maybe there was some inconsistency. The more we clear up. Our knowledge, the more we see. The word of God is true and dependable. So we are sure. That he's a Messiah.

Because he showed up when he did. And if he was in Messiah, we're wasting our time. But he showed up exactly when he was supposed to how he was supposed to. And it doesn't matter. Whether the crowds acknowledge them or not, as a matter of fact. Human acknowledges. The path is narrow. In a way is few. He doesn't depend on a majority opinion. Me, you and him. Just him. Is a majority. So this day. That isn't a day that we usually wait until the spring to celebrate should cause us to strengthen our faith. That yes. I know that Jesus is the Messiah because the scripture says. That he died according to the scriptures. He was buried according to the Scriptures. He rose again according to the scriptures. That is all the proof that we need. But because God knows, we tend to be doubts. And we tend to be strong one day and week the other, he says. Well. Remember this, remember my entry into the temple. Remember how I got there? Remember when I got there? Remember how Jesus was born?

Remember this and he gives us all of these identifications to know that the one that we call Jesus, Yoshua. Is the Messiah that we can trust him? That we can. Fall on our knees and say you are my king. You are my savior. You are my God. You are. As you said, the great I am, I am the way I am the truth and I am the life. And we've come here knowing that and praised him that he gives us more and more proofs. Of who he is.

But all he needs to say is I am who I am. We say say yes Lord. So. The call. For our response today. Maybe look back at some of the things Jesus did. Some of the prophecies. That we might. Be more secure. And our faith.
