Matthew 12:1 - 7 Jesus and disciples accused of breaking the Sabbath and Jesus’ defense

Matthew 12:1 At that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath, and His disciples became hungry and began to pick the heads of grain and eat.

Matthew 12:2 But when the Pharisees saw this, they said to Him, "Look, Your disciples do what is not lawful to do on a Sabbath."

Matthew 12:3 But He said to them, "Have you not read what David did when he became hungry, he and his companions,

Matthew 12:4 how he entered the house of God, and they ate the consecrated bread, which was not lawful for him to eat nor for those with him, but for the priests alone?

Matthew 12:5 "Or have you not read in the Law, that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple break the Sabbath and are innocent?

Matthew 12:6 "But I say to you that something greater than the temple is here.

Matthew 12:7 "But if you had known what this means, `I DESIRE COMPASSION, AND NOT A SACRIFICE,' you would not have condemned the innocent. Lord of the Sabbath

Hosea 6:1 – 11

Hosea 6:1 "Come, let us return to the LORD. For He has torn us, but He will heal us; He has wounded us, but He will bandage us.

Hosea 6:2 "He will revive us after two days; He will raise us up on the third day, That we may live before Him.

Hosea 6:3 "So let us know, let us press on to know the LORD. His going forth is as certain as the dawn; And He will come to us like the rain, Like the spring rain watering the earth."

Hosea 6:4 What shall I do with you, O Ephraim? What shall I do with you, O Judah? For your loyalty is like a morning cloud And like the dew which goes away early.

Hosea 6:5 Therefore I have hewn them in pieces by the prophets; I have slain them by the words of My mouth; And the judgments on you are like the light that goes forth.

Hosea 6:6 For I delight in loyalty rather than sacrifice, And in the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings.

Hosea 6:7 But like Adam they have transgressed the covenant; There they have dealt treacherously against Me.

Hosea 6:8 Gilead is a city of wrongdoers, Tracked with bloody footprints.

Hosea 6:9 And as raiders wait for a man, So a band of priests murder on the way to Shechem; Surely they have committed crime.

Hosea 6:10 In the house of Israel I have seen a horrible thing; Ephraim's harlotry is there, Israel has defiled itself.

Hosea 6:11 Also, O Judah, there is a harvest appointed for you, When I restore the fortunes of My people. /r/n

Matthew 12:8 -14 Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath

Matthew 12:8 "For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath."

Matthew 12:9 Departing from there, He went into their synagogue.

Matthew 12:10 And a man was there whose hand was withered. And they questioned Jesus, asking, "Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?"--so that they might accuse Him.

Matthew 12:11 And He said to them, "What man is there among you who has a sheep, and if it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will he not take hold of it and lift it out?

Matthew 12:12 "How much more valuable then is a man than a sheep! So then, it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath."

Matthew 12:13 Then He said to the man, "Stretch out your hand!" He stretched it out, and it was restored to normal, like the other.

Matthew 12:14 But the Pharisees went out and conspired against Him, as to how they might destroy Him.

Transcript of Service

No God not the rule.

But they didn't learn.

Hello.

He says because you didn't learn the lesson.

You're condemning.

Yes.

And then he said something even more.

Amazing.

For the son of man.

Is Lord?

Of this app.

I determined the Sabbath.

There will be a day that I will give Sabbath rest to those who believe.

Is not about Saturday?

It's about me.

It's about being the Lord of the 7 you see they were so concerned about their rules and regulations.

That, they forgot to understand who the son of Man is.

And all too often, we are so concerned about the rules and regulations. What were to do or not to do that we forget?

It is about God.

So you'll hear a lot of people say that is the Christianity is not a religion. It is a relationship.

That's true.

It's about knowing.

Who Jesus is?

And then want knowing who he is.

Trust in him and following.

Following him not a bunch of do's and don'ts, but following him.

Departing from there, he went into their synagogue.

I'd probably gone somewhere else.

Jesus, please.

So we depart from there, he went into their synagogue.

And a man was there whose hand was withered.

And they questioned Jesus asking is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath.

Notice so that they might accused him.

Here's a man with the withered hand.

And they asked him is it lawful.

To heal.

I find this really ironic.

Because there's no doubt.

In the Pharisees.

Did Jesus can heal?

He's already proved it to him.

They're not operating on faith is that well boy, I wonder if I believe hard enough that he can heal the person is just when you're supposed to do it. They knew it. They wanna know and under their rules and regulations.

You could do healing.

On the Sabbath.

If life depended upon.

So if you had a heart attack and you needed to apply CPR you could do it.

But if you needed a surgery.

To prevent a heart attack on the Sabbath.

That was

No where in the scriptures does it tell us.

You can't.

Too good.

On the Sabbath as a matter of fact is we're told that it is wholly.

What other day is really a good day to do good on a holy day?

But again there so fixated on the rules that they miss who Jesus is.

As a matter of fact they are so intent on the rules. It doesn't matter what he does. They just want to find a way to do away with him.

And he said to them.

What man is there among you who has a sheep and if it falls into a pit on the Sabbath will not take hold of it and lifted out.

He's saying if you have some property a sheep and you lose it into pit you not waiting till Sunday morning to get it out.

'cause there might be something that happens to it. They Wolf my common in tear it apart or it might get all.

Nervous and do harm to itself and so the immediate thing you do is you get it out.

And he says, and you would do that very same thing.

In essence, you are more concerned about property.

B.

Not only you're more concerned about your property.

And people.

And if Jesus is the son of man.

And we're here.

So we've all impetus perfectly fine for us to be lifted out.

Because we're here.

How much more valuable then?

Is a man that is she?

Good question.

How much more valuable?

Jesus in other areas will say.

Sparrow.

And buy them a couple for a penny.

They're really cheap big bargain.

I don't personally think their worth a penny but.

That was the going price then.

And Jesus says you are much more valuable and then.

That God knows every hair on your head. He knows when you get up and when you lay down, he knows about.

How much more valuable than is the man finish?

So then.

It is lawful.

To do good on the Sabbath.

A non Biblical.

Phraseology of this is.

It is always the right time to do the right thing.

You never have to wonder well should I do the right thing.

'cause it's always the right time to do the right thing.

Even when other people are opposed are you doing, the right thing at the anytime.

And that is exactly what these Pharisees do they oppose Jesus regardless?

It's simply look for a way to accused him but he says it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.

And if he is the Lord of the Sabbath.

Someone listen to him.

I don't care about your interpretation of Scripture Jesus interpreting for me.

Now I can argue oh Gee. I'm not Jewish. Therefore, the 10 Commandments on apply to me and so I can do whatever I want to do on this on the Sabbath.

If Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath.

And he tells me it's lawful to do good.

And there isn't a day or time.

It is not a good time.

You do good.

Then he said to the man.

Stretch out your hand.

Jesus.

Want everyone to see.

But he's about to do.

The man stretches out his hand, obviously the one that's with.

And he stretched it out.

And it restored to normal like.

Yeah.

Now I'm pretty sure.

No longer how long this man's hand with Wither.

Well, there was a day or all of his life.

I'm pretty sure he's excited.

Is now I can function with both hands?

Now people.

Won't look at me all because what's wrong with him and you know you do?

Everyone looks at somebody who had normal and wonders what happened.

So not only is restored to hell. He's restored to a sense of privacy that people don't look and say what happened to him and in that culture. A lot of times it was something happened to you because you are a bad person, you sent.

So no longer is the accusation.

So I'm use.

A not so modern word. I bet he was pretty still.

He was pretty excited that he was he.

And you would think.

You would think.

Everybody in that synagogue would go praise God.

He just taught us, it's good to do good on the Sabbath and he just did.

He performed a miracle let's praise God, because we seen God at work.

But the Pharisees.

Their response is this.

Went out.

And conspired against.

Not.

Inspired against him so that they might diminish his uh.

Is affected?

Not inspired against him.

To teach people out.

They conspired against him that's how they might destroy.

Now let's say.

That you're of the opinion.

That you shouldn't do anything on this app.

Let's just say that your opinion.

And you hold it really tight.

I do what you want to destroy somebody.

Who did good and violated your?

But you see is not about.

Who he is?

Because they chose not to understand who God is.

And what he required.

Mercy.

And do justice.

And walk humbly with your God.

And instead.

There was no mercy and.

They condemned the innocent there was no justice in.

And certainly they were not walking humbly with your God because Jesus is the son of God God.

And now if they choose not to walk with him, other than in a sense to accused him.

But they thought to destroy.

Not relate to.

Now today were little more sophisticated.

We don't seek to destroy Jesus.

We just ignore it.

No, he just teaches things like.

Love your neighbor as yourself.

Love your brother and sister as I have loved you.

I have given my life.

See.

Not sure will.

Little while ago.

He teaches all those things.

And sometimes they are convenient.

And sometimes they are inconvenient and when they're inconvenient. We might feel a little bad, but we just go on and do what it is we're gonna do.

Is Apple is better give us or whatever?

So much for walking humbly with her.

So before we get to hospital for the Pharisee.

You first need to examine the plank.

Narrow.

And then how respect?

Are there?

And so.

You may not remember the particular versus.

So that's why I use the exact example.

It is never the wrong time to do the right thing is always the right time to the right.

That's something easy to remember.

And No.

And when you do that.

You don't condemn Dennis.

You don't violate the rule.

As a matter of fact you do with the rules were all about.

No God.

Seek Mercy and compassion.

To do.

It will come live with your God.

And all gods people said.

Stand with me as we pray in as the ban.
